Welcome To My Blog

Welcome To My Blog

I’ve created this blog as a place to gather and disseminate accurate, up-to-date knowledge about Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) and healthy living.

I plan to post information about TCM, a medical system that has been around for over 2 thousand years and includes acupuncture, herbal medicine, cupping, and moxibustion, to name the well-known modalities.

I hope to write about all of these topics plus, I will post research studies, my own articles, and tips that come from TCM philosophy and my clinical experience. I will also include information on general health and wellness, occasional guest writers, and other tidbits that I find exciting.

Let me introduce myself. I’m Jennifer Dubowsky, a licensed acupuncturist with a practice in the River North area of Chicago, Illinois. I earned my Bachelor of Science degree in Kinesiology at the U. of Illinois, Chicago, and have always had a strong interest in the health field.

I received my Masters Degree in Oriental Medicine from Southwest Acupuncture College, an accredited 4 year program in Boulder, Colorado. I enjoyed an internship at the Sino-Japanese Friendship Hospital in Beijing, China, and returned to Chicago in 2002 to open my practice in TCM. Since then, I’ve written numerous articles about acupuncture and Chinese Medicine, given talks, created a seasonal newsletter, and now, my blog.

I’m fascinated by my work. I love using TCM strategy to create health through balance; I’ve been lucky to treat terrific, motivated individuals; and I’m passionate about learning and being able to help others.

Okay, ‘stick’ with me and let’s start at the beginning – What is Traditional Chinese Medicine?

Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) is a natural healing system that has been utilized thousands of years and is still used today in clinics and hospitals throughout China and Asia. TCM continues to gain popularity in the U.S. because it takes a holistic view of each individual and believes that every body has the innate ability to overcome disease and illness. Chinese Medicine works to restore health and vitality to the mind and body. Using acupuncture, herbs, cupping and other treatments.

A body in balance stimulates natural healing and promotes health. TCM can be used to treat conditions ranging from common aches and pains, allergies and headaches to the more complicated illnesses, acute and chronic pain, and digestive and gynecological issues, and many more. In fact, it is recognized by the World Health Organization as an effective treatment for more than 100 conditions. TCM also works well in combination with Western Medicine and other types of treatments because it does not interfere with medications or procedures.
