New Research Shows A High Protein Breakfast Dramatically Reduces Cravings For Sugar and High Fat Foods

images-3I’m always looking for new healthy food ideas. Here is the latest. These researchers were interested in how different breakfasts affect dopamine. Dopamine is a neurotransmitter which helps control the brain’s reward and pleasure centers. In this brand new study using overweight teenage girls (a risky population), researchers found that eating a high protein breakfast reduces cravings for sweets later on.

Dr. Leidy said, “Our research showed that people experience a dramatic decline in cravings for sweet foods when they eat breakfast….However, breakfasts that are high in protein also reduced cravings for savory — or high-fat — foods.” If this helped overweight teens, I think it can be useful for all of us.

I am not a very good cook, so if anyone out there has some healthy high protein breakfast ideas, please share!

I make a "Western Breakfast Bi Bim Bap". You make oatmeal preferably with some goji berries and walnuts or almonds, then put two strips of bacon and a fried egg on top.
