New Research Shows A High Protein Breakfast Dramatically Reduces Cravings For Sugar and High Fat Foods
I’m always looking for new healthy food ideas. Here is the latest. These researchers were interested in how different breakfasts affect dopamine. Dopamine is a neurotransmitter which helps control the brain’s reward and pleasure centers. In this brand new study using overweight teenage girls (a risky population), researchers found that eating a high protein breakfast reduces cravings for sweets later on.
Dr. Leidy said, “Our research showed that people experience a dramatic decline in cravings for sweet foods when they eat breakfast….However, breakfasts that are high in protein also reduced cravings for savory — or high-fat — foods.” If this helped overweight teens, I think it can be useful for all of us.
I am not a very good cook, so if anyone out there has some healthy high protein breakfast ideas, please share!
