Even Sea Turtles Are Getting Acupuncture!

Acupuncture for animals continues to gain popularity. This weekend CBS reported (see the video here) a story about three sea turtles who are suffering from joint infections. Their joints have limited range of motion which causes them to have difficulty swimming, important for a sea turtle! They are being treated by acupuncturist Claire McManus and the aquarium’s head vet, Dr. Charles Innis, says it seems to be helping. I’m glad to hear it!

Acupuncture for humans has been around for over 3,000 years. It's effectiveness, even if it is a placebo effect, has been documented. But, when it comes to acupuncture on animals, how can we explain it's effectiveness as simply a placebo effect? There needs to be more research done on Acupuncture.
